My first darkroom was a converted fruit cellar.I was about fourteen years old. The enlarger was an antique from the 40's. In the winter time, the developing chemical baths were cold enough to numb my fingers. I had to leave the darkroom for the other side of the basement to rinse the photos. My first real camera was a twin lens reflex Rolleicord. I used it all through high school. My fruit cellar dark room experience and the Rollei got me the job of school photographer in high school. After college, with my darkroom days behind me I switched to a 35mm and color pictures. Also leaving behind the aspirations of becoming a professional photographer, photography became an excuse for getting outside. I became a snapshot specialist. I always remember this one photographer whose work I admired, who claimed to own one camera and three enlargers. About seven years ago I discovered Photoshop and it re-awakened my photographic tendencies.
